Zaarly Launches Today – Helps Connect Buyers and Sellers Locally

Are you sitting in your office wishing someone could deliver a cup of Bedlam Coffee to you? Are you going to be stuck an event tonight and need someone to take your dog to Regrade Park? Finding help for these issues can be difficult, but a new app, launching today, hopes to provide a solution.

Zaarly, based in Seattle, is a new real time buying and selling application for your smart phone that uses geo location to connect buyers and sellers. The fun part – you can buy or sell practically anything!

Let’s say you need a copy of yesterday’s New York Times (an actual request live at the time of this post.) You would post your request, add a price and wait for a response from the market price. A Zaarly user may have his/her copy from yesterday and would be willing to sell it for the posted price. Users would connect through Zaarly, and agree on a method of payment (think Paypal, Venmo, Cash, or use the Zaarly app itself) and the rest of the details.

In office massage needed ($25 offer,) Deliverd Lunch from Paseo ($30,) and A Fancy Glass from which to Drink Scotch ($5) are some of the current requests in the Belltown area.

On the other side of the app, users can fulfill requests that are live on Zaarly. This can be an easy way to pick up extra money, earn Karma points or help out community members. One thing to note, if you are fulfilling requests and using the Zaarly payment method, they do charge 10% fees. Make sure you account that in your “is it worth the money to do this task” equation.

The Zaarly app is available on iPhone now, Android (very soon) and mobile phones with browsers. It can also be accessed via Facebook.

Zaarly has a few big name backers, like Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Levar Burton and other big names (and big wallets!) so expect to see some big things from them in the future.

In the meantime, learn more about Zaarly by signing up and seeing request around you. Or better yet, make a request yourself.

And if anyone has the hook up on Bell’s Oberon – well, this Detroiter is offering $20 for a 6 pack!
