Last Saturday November 2nd was Día de Muertos, and Under the Needle celebrated it with an invitation-only day filled with culture, history, authentic artwork, live music, Mexican food from Mama’s Mexican Kitchen, drinks sponsored by The Whisky Bar, face painting, an alter for offerings, and complimentary Día De Muertos tattoo’s for those lucky enough to receive an invite.
When I arrived at the party it was in full-swing with the band starting to setup, face painting going on, and the shop artists doing what they love and giving some special tattoo’s for any of the attendees who were interested. The shop had given out over 250 invitations from contests and other various outlets through-out Belltown.
A lot of attendees came dressed with face paintings, including myself. I did have a sit down with the face-painter and he was able to take my self painting and make it a lot better. The party was a huge success and I am already looking forward to next years. Be sure to keep an eye out on Under The Needle’s Facebook Page for more events coming up, and for next years party!!
