Crash Student is based on the Crash Cinema filmmaking challenge fine tuned for teens (age 13 and up) and college students. Can you create a compelling, cohesive film in just eight hours? Find out at SIFF and National Film Festival for Talented Youth’s (NFFTY) Crash Student.
Schedule for Crash Student
9:30am | Teams assemble
10:00am – 5:00pm | Crash Filmmaking on the Seattle Center Campus
5:30 – 6:00pm | Crash Film Screening
Films must be no longer than three-minutes and must include the four Crash elements. The four elements include a genre, a type of action, a character’s name, and a line of dialogue.
Each team must provide their own equipment including a video camera (can be a cell phone), a way to transfer footage to an editing system, computer with editing software, burnable dvd or flash drive. If you don’t have any of these, no worries. Show up and we will find a group that has equipment that you can join. There is some equipment at SIFF as well, but is great to have students using materials that they have at home so they can learn on what is available to them. Also, plan to bring any costumes or props that you might want to use with you that day.
