Ivan & Alyosha are a local band hurtling on an upward path. This is a good chance to catch them in a small venue before they blow up… and to say you were there… before the hype, when a couple years down the road they’ve sold out and are belting out a disgruntled acoustic set on MTV unplugged. Kidding!
Here’s how Rolling Stone – Hype Monitor describes their entrancing melodic wares;
The Band: Ivan & Alyosha
The Buzz: Smooth, soaring guitar pop from Seattle duo that is plaintive and pristine.
Listen If: You’d be curious to hear what happened if the Shins slowed it down a bit.
Key Track: “Easy to Love,” the perfect late Valentine for the mutually smitten.
Wednesday 7/15. Full band show, 21+, doors open at 8:00PM, $8.00. More info and tickets here. We had a chance to interview the guys in Belltown. Also, be sure to check out a couple sample MP3’s, uploaded to the site.
- what’s your favorite place to hang out in belltown?
- what are you hoping to accomplish with your music?
A career, make people think and feel, make great records.
- what’s an ideal weekend for you?
Morning coffee, sunshine, hanging with my lady, friends and family, riding bikes, no schedule.
- If you eclipsed all measures of success with your music would you be on cribs or fade away into hiding?
Somewhere in the middle perhaps.
- What’s wrong with the world today?
I think we take allot of things for granted, we turn our blessings into burdens, we place undue importance on things that don’t matter and complain about all the most beautiful things about life, like marriage and children for example.
