Meet Your Neighbors at Happy Hour this Thursday

We’re kicking off our Happy Hour series once again. We figure that winter will eventually get here someday and that’s always a good time to meet some new friends and neighbors. This week, we’re heading over to Ventana. They’ve graciously extended their happy hour all night long for us, so swing by anytime. We’ll be there from 5:30 on.

Who: Anyone that lives or works in Belltown

Where: 2323 1st Ave.

When: 5:30 PM on Thursday

Why: Because its more fun to live in a place where you bump into people on the streets who know your name. This is a great neighborhood to live in with a ton of awesome people all doing great things. We’d love to meet you, make some friends, and start enjoying our community together.

  1. Also at Ventana, starting at 5pm – come a little early and stay on for happy hour?

    About the Viaduct Lands Study…

Belltown has a significant deficiency in interior open space and connections to amenities that border its neighborhood. The community is not complete in regards to resources that support neighborhood and civic life. An opportunity to correct this problem will appear when the viaduct is removed and is replaced with a green street park, connections to the waterfront parks and other amenities. The existing viaduct has been a barrier to create a network of greenways that could integrate Belltown into the larger city structure. The benefits of this project will be to empower the neighborhood representatives with information, programs and concepts that will enable them to more effectively represent the community’s interests during the next steps of planning for the viaduct lands.

The objective of the project is to provide technical information and material that can assist and empower our community as we begin the discussions with the City and State on the disposition of those vacated viaduct lands. The study is being conducted by Weinstein A|U, an experienced urban design and architecture firm, under the direction of a community steering committee and technical advisory committee with broad community participation. The result of the study will be an informed community agenda, supportive technical planning documents and community consensus on needs and specific possibilities that can be pursued with public agencies. Our plan is to prepare material supporting a public process that articulates community programs and plans for open space and connections on and adjacent to the existing viaduct land and structures.
