FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 3, 2013 Contact: Hannah Kett, Sustainable Seattle, 206-622-3522 or hannahk@sustainableseattle.org Deadline for Nominations of Local Sustainability Awards Nearing Sustainable Seattle is Looking for Nominations for Sustainability Leadership Awards SEATTLE, WA – Nominations are currently being accepted from the community for the Sustainability Leadership Awards, an annual event recognizing the individuals, businesses, and organizations working to build a healthy and vibrant Puget Sound region. Submissions are due Tuesday, October 8. The Sustainability Leadership Awards, started in 2001 by local non-profit Sustainable Seattle, recognize the accomplishments of those raising the bar for sustainability in the Seattle area. These nominations celebrate and encourage positive change as well as appropriately recognize the time and energy invested in transforming neighborhoods, businesses, and quality of life. “Seattle is often referred to as one the nation’s most progressive cities,” said Terri Butler, Executive Director of Sustainable Seattle. Adding, “the Sustainability Leadership Awards celebrate those contributing to that reputation. “ Seattle area community members are encouraged to submit nominations for the following categories: Sustainability Hero, a category for an outstanding individual contributor; Significant Newcomer, Creative Solution, or Setting an Example categories for businesses; and Transforming Spaces, Resource Impact, or Transportation categories for communities. Multiple nominations are encouraged and self-nomination is accepted, with the exception of the Sustainability Hero category.
